How we work
They are the hero of the story. We bring what’s missing.
We don’t rescue anyone. We stand next to people who are fighting their way back, and we solve one specific problem together, all the way to the end.
Four steps, in every story
In Greek, we call a gift a λιθαράκι: one small piece, added to a wall one at a time. Every piece counts, and every one shows.
We get to know the person
On the street, on the phone or through people who know them. Help and a talk come first. The camera comes later, and only if they want it.
We check and cost it
First we talk with them at length. Then we meet in person and see the bills with our own eyes.
We gather small acts
Gifts, jobs, skills, a room to rent. Every small act counts, and every one shows on the story’s page.
We pay and we show
We pay the bill directly, post the receipt, and come back to tell what changed.
Three promises about the money
What you give gets where we say it goes, and you can see it with your own eyes.
How we check a story
- First we talk with them at length, on the phone or through people who know them. Then we meet in person, before any story opens.
- We see the papers: the bill, the notice, the job offer, the lease.
- We talk to whoever gets paid: the power company, the landlord, the shop.
- Nothing is published without the person’s written consent.
