Part two: the call that never came

Adam · Athens

Adam

What changed

BeforeHe had Sokratis’s number and an offer of work, but he never called.

NowSokratis went back to find him, brought food and clothes and offered him work again. It was the last time they were in touch.

Adam’s story

Adam never called. Three days later Sokratis went back to find him and asked him why. The answer: he had no SIM card. Sokratis told him he would get him one himself.

Adam told him he had been promised a lot, and ended up on the street. He had worked seven days on a building site in Patras. That day he asked for a sandwich. Sokratis brought it, along with clothes, and told him again that he wants to give him work.

That was the last time they were in touch. Sokratis isn’t giving up: “We don’t love in order to be loved, and we don’t lose hope.” There are many people who want to fight for a new life, and we are here to give them, all together, the chance they are waiting for.

Food, clothes, and the offer of work in construction once more.

How we know

  • Sokratis went back to see him in person. It is all in the video.
  • The family said yes to being in the videos and on the site.
  • We pay the bills directly. The receipts are on the Transparency page.
